PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE


Twenty-one years of experience in analysis of US and foreign military systems, operational methods and policy.  Specific areas of expertise include: comparative assessment of US and foreign strategy, doctrine, force structure and conventional weapons systems; missile and air defense systems; US and foreign strategic weapons systems and targeting policies; air warfare; command and control systems; logistic analysis; analysis of special operations requirements and techniques; training and development of training materials, and procurement policies.

 

 
 
 

May 1998-Present: Senior Analyst, ARDAK Corporation:
Conducted market and competition analyses for US and foreign aerospace and defense firms.  Developed data bases on European defense policies, acquisition organizations and regulations, major defense programs, and industry consolidation.  Developed extended database on the global space ground environment.  Conducted analyses of the global commercial space remote sensing market, the global satellite payload market, the initial/primary training aircraft market, and the air/missile defense market (with particular emphasis on the emerging anti-cruise missile requirement).  Conducts competitor analyses of specific US and foreign defense/aerospace companies and their business units.  Conducts competitive analyses of specific US and foreign defense procurement programs.  Provided support to the USD(AT&L) Office of International Programs.

March 1997-April 1998: Director of Research, IPAC/The Columbus Group, LLC:
Provided support to entire marketing and analysis staff, particularly defense-related issues.  Provided directed intelligence reports to Kawasaki Heavy Industries on US aerospace and defense policies and programs, in the form of a weekly bulletin utilizing both open and proprietary sources of information, together with detailed analysis of current developments.  Conducted analysis of European tactical wheeled vehicle market for Meritor Automotive Corporation, including a description and valuation of the market with projections through 2006, description and evaluation of European requirements development and procurement practices, an assessment of potential developments in market consolidation and rationalization, and recommended market strategies.  The study made use of both open source contract documentation and meetings with key European government and industry leaders.

March 1994-February 1997: Senior Associate, JHF, Inc.:
Provided operational analyses, concept definitions, and strategic market analyses to US and foreign aerospace companies. Authored US Army Field Manual FM 100-17-3, Reception, Staging, Onward Movement and Integration for the US Army transportation School and US Training and Doctrine Command.  Served as principal investigator on a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program to develop a methodology for the insertion of historically accurate suppression effects in stochastic combat simulations.  Successfully completed Phase I in October 1994; Phase II award granted in March 1995.  Conducted air and naval threat assessment of Persian Gulf region for United Arab Emirates.
